Homizy Rubattino

Homizy Rubattino is an urban regeneration project based on the adaptive reuse of a building conceived for industrial use and never completed.

Our objective was the reconversion of the building (7 floors and 2 basements) into a residential function, transforming it into an example of dynamic and responsible development aimed at a specific user group composed of 'young professionals' (from 21 to 35 years old) capable of appreciating new residential models such as Co-Living.

On the main street façades, the building is composed of simple and essential elements that highlight special conditions. Perhaps the most obvious of these is the corner treatment that identifies the entrance and helps the building mark the intersection.

The courtyard facades express a completely different vocabulary: colour and movement are very present in the composition, marking the main functions and circulation elements and expressing the social nature of the courtyard's outdoor spaces.

More about this project

"Openness and movement on the interior. On the other hand, the interior facades create a completely different ”look and feel.” Color and movement are very present and the use of different sized windows reflect both functional as well as privacy issues. Upon this mosaic of colors are superimposed the principal exterior circulation elements.
Co-living and Co-sharing. A variety of spaces to be lived and shared.
All above-ground floors are designed to have a wide variety of apartment typologies ranging from studio apartments to multi-bedroom apartments of various sizes. Circulation is an exterior corridor of generous width thought of as a place of transit but also exterior filter spaces for the use of individual dwellings."
